The Laboratory for Hyperautonomy Artificial Intelligence (HAI Lab.), founded in September 2010, located in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Seoul National University, Republic of Korea.
HAI Lab. is the pioneer and global leader in providing innovative knowledge and resources to support reliability, sustainability, structural integrity, and risk management of complex engineered systems. Our research emphasizes a well-balanced interaction of physical experimentation and virtual testing to identify optimal solutions for system analysis and design. This approach is increasingly informed by our focus on hyperautonomy technologies, which are essential for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of engineering processes.
We are currently exploring three primary research avenues: Intelligent Metrology (IM), System Modeling (SM), and Decision Making (DM). Each of these areas is pivotal to advancing automation in engineered systems and involves a synthesis of applied mechanics, statistical data analysis (including machine learning and pattern recognition), advanced computer simulation (notably in multiphysics analysis), sensor technologies, mathematical optimization, and creative techniques. Our work spans both consumer products (e.g., electronics, automobiles, batteries, appliances) and large-scale systems (e.g., power plants, aircraft, wind turbines, manufacturing lines).
Through these efforts, we aim to solidify our international standing as one of the world's leading research groups in industrial AI for intelligent automation by contributing impactful research to both the scientific and industrial communities
