The Laboratory for Hyperautomation Artificial Intelligence (HAI Lab.), founded in September 2010, located in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Seoul National University, Republic of Korea.

HAI Lab. is the pioneer and global leader in providing innovative knowledge and resources to support reliability, sustainability, structural integrity, and risk management of complex engineered systems. Our research is dedicated to a well-balanced interaction of physical experiments and virtual testing for seeking the optimal solution of system analysis and design. This approach is now increasingly informed by our emphasis on hyperautomation technologies, which are essential for enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of engineering processes.

We are currently exploring three research avenues: Prognostics and Health Management (PHM), Statistical Model Verification and Validation (V&V), and Reliability-Based Design Optimization (RBDO). Each of these areas is pivotal for the advancement of automation within engineered systems, requiring a synthesis of applied mechanics, statistical data analysis (including machine learning and pattern recognition), advanced computer simulation (notably in multiphysics analysis), sensor manipulation, mathematical optimization, and creative techniques. We have worked on consumer products (electronics, automotive, batteries, appliances, etc.) and large-scale systems (power plants, airplanes, wind turbines, manufacturing lines, etc.).

With such efforts, we will secure the international status as one of the world's leading research groups in the field of health prognostics & risk management for adaptively-reliable, safe, and operationally-available engineered systems. Thank you very much.
